Key Responsibilities

When not engaged in asphalt maintenance, you will work with the Paving Crew as a crew operator under the direction of the Paving Foreman. The typical construction season runs from April to November, with snow removal and other tasks arising during the winter months. Supervisors during the construction season are given priority for winter work.

During slower periods, you are encouraged to undertake projects that enhance your knowledge of industry best practices, engage with company policies and procedures, and contribute to building a stronger company.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Site Superintendent is a key figure in our construction team. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the job site, ensuring the work progresses smoothly, safely, and on schedule.

Summary of Duties

  • Provide support for estimation and project planning for future projects.
  • Maintain project execution, contract requirements, project specifications, and scope of work.
  • Ensure project/site adherence to OH&S regulations, company policies, industry standards, and client specifications.
  • Provide site supervision to the crews ensuring that work is completed safely, correctly, and on time.
  • Responsible for site staffing, quality control, subcontractor coordination, and project scheduling.
  • Oversee the quality of work on-site and ensure that construction processes meet design specifications.
  • Manage site materials and inventory.
  • Utilize standard construction software and management processes.
  • Conduct quantity surveys and progress measurements.
  • Timely identification, quantification, and documentation of Change Order Requests (CORs).
  • Support invoicing through progress measurement and coordination with owners.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of industrial construction experience.
  • Previous superintendent experience managing projects valued over $5M.
  • Ability to perform material take-offs, supervise teams, and effectively communicate instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical and computer proficiency required.
  • Training Requirements (not limited to): SCOT/WHMIS, Supervisor Training, Ground Disturbance II, First Aid.

The Role

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Coordinator is responsible for the effective implementation and promotion of the company’s safety programs and systems. The HSE Coordinator ensures construction activities comply with site requirements and monitors daily activities to identify hazardous conditions and work procedures to ensure quality requirements are met.

Summary of Duties

  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OH&S standards.
  • Implement and maintain the Safety Management System, including tracking pre-qualification data.
  • Maintain inventory of hazardous products, first aid, and personal protective equipment on-site.
  • Record and file confidential information, metrics, and safety data in databases.
  • Ensure timely communication with the HSE Manager and management regarding site safety matters.
  • Conduct regular site, facility, and equipment inspections to identify and correct hazards.
  • Assist project site personnel with daily health and safety inspections and documentation.
  • Monitor and investigate daily work practices to identify hazardous conditions and unsafe work procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide operational support as required.
  • Investigate injuries, accidents, and near misses, developing corrective actions in collaboration with Site Supervision, Project Manager, and HSE Manager.
  • Assist in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), and toolbox meetings.

Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of construction and safety practices acquired through progressive work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of civil infrastructure industry experience.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certificate from SCSA or HCSAS is an asset.
  • Broad knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health & Safety Acts and Regulations, Industry Standards, and the Mine Regulations.
  • Saskatchewan OHC Level 1 and 2 certification.
  • One of the following: Supervisor & Safety Worksafe Sask, Safety Excellence Leadership (SLE)-HCSA, or Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) – SCSA.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C - AED Certificate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and office administration procedures.

The Role

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), particularly with MS Project.
  • Proficient in scheduling and project management software.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the QA/QC Coordinator is responsible for managing and ensuring the quality of work performed. They oversee activities, either directly or indirectly, to ensure compliance with specified requirements, including tolerance, dimensions, material selection, and overall quality as outlined in Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s).

Summary of Duties

  • Review, amend, and approve all ITP’s provided.
  • Review the Project Specific Quality Plan (PSQP) at the start of construction to verify compliance with project and regulatory quality requirements.
  • Monitor the quality control program throughout construction and report deficiencies.
  • Ensure all examinations required by the PSQP and ITP are completed and properly signed off.
  • Verify through daily inspections and review of test results that proper record keeping has been implemented.
  • Raise construction-related non-conformances.
  • Coordinate with field surveyors to assess quantities for progress reporting.
  • Ensure construction re-work and non-conformances are tracked and reported.
  • Participate in construction meetings and verify that red-line drawings align with field conditions and RFI updates.
  • Coordinate construction turnovers.

Requirements

  • Trade experience, certification, diploma, or degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • CWB, CQI, or similar certifications are considered an asset.
  • 2-5 years of previous quality control experience.
  • Strong technical proficiency in the Quality field, including related legislation, auditing, and data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
